Brunch, Modeling Jobs, and Tom Selleck’s Mustache

Hi guys!

A super quick update for you. This week I did a couple productive things. Like, at least two. The rest of my time was spent throwing dinner parties and eating brunch, when I probably should have been job hunting like a responsible citizen. (By the way, Maison Kayser’s brunch is just as delectable as the desserts. You owe it to yourself to try them out.)

For starters, I worked on Orange is the New Black and Blue Bloods. (I know you’re going to ask, so yes, Tom Selleck’s mustache is even more fabulous in person. And yes, he does smell like fresh-chopped cedarwood and Italian leather.)

I’m still split on the idea of background work. On one hand, it is very little cash for a whole lot of my time. But on the other hand, I can use a lot of that time to write, job surf, and contemplate life. I also meet a lot of interesting people, which sometimes leads to new ideas and opportunities. (Maybe I could be a stuntman!) And then there’s the free food. My old business partner once joked that I’d do pretty much anything as long as I was fed well. (Twelve hours of hard labor, but I get steak frites at the end? Where do I sign up??)

I applied to some food/restaurant-related writing gigs that looked like they’d be right up my alley. Anything that subsidizes my restaurant addiction is more than welcome! And I’d love a paid excuse to write about the NYC food scene, that would be a dream.

Finally, my friend sent some pictures from my photo shoot to her agency a few days ago. Next thing I know, I’m scheduled to audition for a Samsung ad on Monday… I have NO idea what I’m doing, but hey, it’ll make a good story if nothing else! I’ll let y’all know how it goes. Stay tuned!
